This demon mask is used as a talisman to ward off evil spirits. Onigawara (literally demon-tiles) are decorations found on the roofs of many temples and represent oni, mythological beings taking the form of demons or ogres.

Purchased from the Kawara Museum near Lake Biwa, this mask was crafted by artisans using the same techniques as those used to make these emblematic Japanese tiles.

This unique object can be used as an interior decoration or hung somewhere in your home, thanks to the cord on the back, for example in your entrance hall to protect your home from malicious spirits.
