Kumadori is the stage makeup worn by kabuki actors, the traditional Japanese theater, mostly when performing plays in the aragoto style.
Red kumadori indicates a powerful hero role, a character with virtue and courage.
This Omen, Japanese traditional mask, represents the kumadori of one of the most famous Kabuki roles: Kamakura Gongoro, the hero in the play Shibaraku, one of the Jūhachiban (the 'Eighteen Great Plays').
