A very nice 'meotobashi' set of chopsticks dedicated to couples. The word 'meotobashi' means married couple in Japanese. The patterns on the top of each of them represent the famous and popular sakura flower.
The urushi lacquer use for these objects guaranties the best finish.

Japanese urushi lacquer is made from the sap of the urushi tree, a tradition dating back to the Jomon period (6000BC).
Laquered objects (Shikki) are sensitive to a direct exposure to sunlight. These products cannot be used in microwaves and cannot be washed in dishwasher. Urushi products should be quickly dried  after washing.
