How did Tokyo Smart start?

We are a French-Japanese couple - so please be indulgent with our English :-) - living in Chita-shi, near Nagoya in Aichi prefecture.
Our online adventure started when we were living in Naha (Okinawa, Japan). At the time we had a first online shop specialized in products from Okinawa (food, glassware..).
Back to Aichi prefecture (where we used to live) after two years we decided to open a new online shop and started to look for new ideas. During the few previous years we got emails from friends who were looking for Japanese decoration objects which were quality items made in Japan. At the time there were many online shops selling Japanese products but only a few of them and even none were selling Japanese decoration items which were original, top quality and guaranty made in Japan. This is how the idea of Tokyo Smart was born.
After months of products research, website developing and testing, the shop went on line on the 2d of August 2010. Since then we travel the different prefectures looking for new objects.
In order to make sure of the quality of all articles we sell we meet many makers and craftsmen before to make a decision.

Presentation of the team

Our international team is composed of three members:
Yumi from Japan looks for new products and contacts the different dealers. She also organizes the trips to meet them. In addition she helps for the boring stuff all the paperwork (registration, taxes, banks) thanks to her great knowledge of Japanese language. She also helps writing on the blog.
Loic from France is in charge of the conception and the maintenance of the website. In some way he's the geek of the team. He's also in charge of customers service, products ordering, shipping, pictures...
In addition he also takes care of the customer relationship and writes stuff on the blog when he get some inspiration communicates on our products and services. He's also the one chatting working on the Facebook pages.
Délonghi from Italy makes coffee and she makes it well. As a coffee machine she's not very talkative but she's always very supportive and is our source of inspiration.

We have two main priorities: the quality of our products and the quality of service.
All our products are made in different prefectures of Japan. We focus on finding high quality products at reasonable prices. If you are looking for a specific item which is not in our website please contact us and we will have a look for you.
We do our best to give you a great customer experience. To make it simple we aim to bring the Japanese level of service overseas! As a small structure we are pretty flexible so we can answer to specific demands.
